What is a compromise?
“A solution in which each side gives up some of its demands to reach an agreement.”
Who was James Madison?
A delegate from Virginia at the Constitution Convention. He had a lot of knowledge about politics, and was known as the “Father of the Constitution”.

Who was Alexander Hamilton?
He was a delegate from New York at the Constitutional Convention. He believed in a very strong federal government.
Who was the president of the Constitutional Convention?
George Washington
What were the 3 branches of the federal government?
Legislature (Congress = makes laws), Executive (President = enforce laws), Judicial (Supreme Court = interpret laws)
What was the Virginia Plan?
In the Virginia Plan, the legislature is split into 2 houses – the House of Representatives and the Senate, which both depended on population. This favored the bigger states (Ex. Virginia, Mass). Had 3 branches of government.

What did the New Jersey Plan say?
The New Jersey Plan said that there would only be 1 house in the legislature, and each state had 1 representative (like Articles of Confederation). This favored the smaller states. Also said 3 branches of government.
