Who was Nathanael Greene?
Nathanael Greene was a Patriot general who took control of the Continental Army in the south. He kept the British distracted/occupied by only attacking when they were at a disadvantage. Greene was also good at convincing people to join the Army.

Dan Morgan was a Patriot general who defended the South with his group of “riflemen”. He won the Battle of Cowpens.

Francis Marion, nicknamed the “Swamp Fox”, was the leader of the South Carolina militia
Which battle tactics did Francis Marion use?
Francis Marion used guerilla (hit and run) tactics against the British, which frustrated them. Marion would have the militia camp out in the swamps, then at night, they’d attack. No one ever found where they were hiding, because no one thought to check the swamps. This earned Marion the nickname the “Swamp Fox”

The Battle turned the tide of the war, because the British were taking over the South. The victory also boosted morale.
How did Daniel Morgan win the Battle of Cowpens?
Dan Morgan won the Battle of Cowpens by using a special strategy. He had a front line and a rear line. The front line shot two volleys, then appeared to retreat. So, the British charged, but they didn’t know about the rear line, and ran straight into their line of fire.
