What is the digit span test?
Maximum number of sequentially presented digits that can reliably be recalled in the correct order.
What is the working memory span?
Term applied to a range of of complex memory span tasks in which simultaneous storage and processing is required.
What does the digit span test measure?
Short term memory.
What makes a digit span test easier to complete?
Chunking.
What is the phonological loop responsible for?
The temporary storage of speechlike information.
What is the phonological similarity effect?
A tendency for immediate serial recall of verbal material to be reduced, when the items are similar in sound.
Why does articulatory suppression impinge on your ability to recall a list of words?
Because saying an unrelated word repeatedly distracts you from subvocaly repeating the words you’re trying to remember.
