Abscess
a pocket of pus in the tissues
Ankylosing spondylosis
a form of arthritis of the spine, more common in men, where affected vertebrae can fuse
Cellulitis
inflammation of the skin, down to subcutaneous layers, caused by bacterial infection
Decubitus ulcers
bedsore; pressure sore
Fascia
inelastic fibrous tissue that surrounds each muscle compartment
Gangrene
the death of tissue; necrosis
Gas gangrene
tissue necrosis associated with gas-producing bacteria
Gout
arthritis caused by uric acid crystals deposited in a joint
Kyphosis
abnormal convex curvature of the thoracic spine that can cause a hunchback appearance
Myoglobin
the pigment in the muscle that can bind with oxygen
Necrotizing fasciitis
a rapidly spreading infection of the fascia with tissue death and separation of tissues from the fascia

age-related degenerative joint disease the loss of articular cartilage

loss of bone density resulting in fragile bones
Pathologic fractures
a bone that is broken with little force due to diseased state of the bone

the breakdown of skeletal muscle
