Defend in place

Exit Drills In The Home (E.D.I.T.H.)

Exposure
A set of legally adopted rules and regulations designed to prevent fires and protect lives and property in the event of a fire.
Fire codes
Measures taken toward avoiding the inception of fire.
Fire prevention
A voluntary inspection of a residence or occupied structure to identify fire and life safety hazards.
Fire safety survey
Moving occupants from a dangerous area to a safe area on the same floor level.
Horizontal evacuation
A term describing individuals who cannot move themselves to an area of safety owing to their physical condition, medical treatment or other factors.
Nonambulatory patient
A document developed by gathering general and detailed data that is used by responding personnel in effectively managing emergencies for the protection of occupants, responding personnel, property, and the environment.
Preincident plan
The process used to gather information to develop a preincident plan.
Preincident survey
Formatted information, provided by chemical manufacturers and distributors of hazardous products, about chemical composition, physical and chemical properties, health and safety hazards, emergency response, and waste disposal of the material.
