A

Level I: A hospital nursery that is able to provide neonatal resuscitation and postnatal care of healthy newborn infants and stable late-preterm infants born at 35 to 37 week’s gestation.
Level II: This is hospital special care nursery provides care to infants born at or less than 32 weeks’ gestation with birth weight < 1500G who have physiologic immaturity issues that are expected to resolve rapidly with continued maturation.
Level III: Hospital stay for extremely high risk newborn infants and those with critical illness, including infants born extremely preterm.
Level IV: These units have the capabilities of a level II NICU and are located in institutions that can provide on-site surgical repair of serious congenital or acquired malformations.
