Chapter 15 - Introduction to Exercise Modalities Flashcards
Suspension bodyweight trainers
Suspension bodyweight trainers allow for the manipulation of body position to make bodyweight exercises
more challenging by suspending either the hands or the feet from a single anchor point. Because of the stabilization
requirements, bodyweight suspension training is ideal at the Stabilization Level (Phase 1), as well as for the stability
supersets in Phase 2.
closed chain exercises
involve movements in which the distal extremities (hands or feet) are in a constant fixed position and thus the force applied by an individual is not great enough to overcome the resistance (such as the ground or immovable object). Examples of closed-chain exercises include push-ups, pull-ups, and squats.
open chain exercises
involve movements in which the distal extremities (hands or feet) are not in a fixed position and the force applied by the body is great enough to overcome the resistance (such as barbells or dumbbells). Examples of openchain exercises include the bench press, lat pulldown, and the machine leg extension exercise.
Resistance should be positioned to resist shoulder horizontal adduction during which of the following exercises?
