Base stations

radios affixed in a vehicle. Lower transmitting power than base stations.
- Output 20-50 watts
- range 10-15 miles
Portable radios
Output 1-5watts
Repeaters
picks up signal and retransmits at a higher power on a different freq
Cell phones
transmit to cell tower. Used where distances or expense is too great to set up a conventional EMS radio system

Process of sending and receiving data wirelessly (electrocardiogram ECG), vitals

Federal communications commission
- Assigns and licenses radio frequencies
- Strict rules about interfering with emergency radio traffic and prohibiting profanities and offensive language
Radio medical reports
- Unit identification and level of provider
- Estimated time of arrival
- Patients age and sex
- Chief complaint
- Brief, pertinent history of the present illness

- Pertinent findings of the physical exam

PCR
Prehospital care report
- legal document, provides information for administrative functions, aids education and research, and contributes to quality improvement
- Status of the patient when you arrived on scene, the care you gave, and how the patients status may have changed during your care
- Computer based or handwritten
- Serves as legal document for victims, perpetrators, civil law and negligence’s cases
- May also have to obtain insurance and billing information
