Q

(a) assessing, and teaching if necessary, prerequisite skills for imitation training,
(b) selecting models for training,
(c) pretesting,
(d) sequencing models for training, and
(e) performing imitation training.

A

The components of Striefel’s protocol.

Striefel (1974) developed an imitation training program for practitioners.

A

Four conditions for imitation training:

Q

ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES for attending skills:

A
  1. Staying seated.
    - Seat the learner and RECORD the DURATION of time the learner remains seated.
  2. Looking at the teacher.
    - Say the learner’s name in a commanding voice and RECORD whether the student MAKES EYE CONTACT.
  3. Keeping hands in lap.
    - Prompt the student to put his hands in his lap and RECORD the DURATION of time the student’s hands remain in that position.
  4. Looking at objects.
    - Place several objects on a table and say, “Look at this.” Immediately following the command, move a finger from in front of the learner’s eye to one of the objects and record whether the student looked at the object.

Teachers often assess attending skills for a minimum
of three sessions.
