thesis statement
main idea of an entire speech; it should capture the key message in a concise sentence that is easy to remember
demographic audience analysis
identifies general features common to a group of listeners, including age, sex, religion, cultural heritage, race, occupation, political allegiances, and education level
situational audience analysis
seeks information about listeners that relates directly to the speaker’s topic and purpose
