Ch. 4.7 Connective Tissue Fascia Flashcards
1
Q
Fascia
A
Connective tissue layers and wrappings that support and surround organs.
2
Q
What are the three type of fascia?
A
- Superficial fascia (hypodermis)
- Deep fascia
- Subserous fascia
3
Q
Superficial fascia (hypodermis)
A
A layer of areolar and fat that:
- separates the skin from underlying tissue and organs
- Provides insulation and padding
- Lets the skin and underlying tissues move independently
4
Q
Deep fascia
A
- Dense irregular connective tissue.
- Strong fibrous network
- All fibers run in the same direction, but orientation changes layer to layer.
- Resists force from multiple directions.
- Bound to capsules, tendons and ligaments
- These connective tissues are interwoven
5
Q
Subserous fascia
A
- A lare of areolar tissue that lies between the deep fascia and serous membranes.
- Separates membranes from muscle movements so they are not damaged
