Q

In this phase of interphase DNA replicates. There are 46 chromosomes in a cell and during this phase we have 96.

Q

What happens during Early Prophase?

A

Chromatin condenses as chromosomes and mitotic spindle forms from centrioles.

Q

What happens during Late Prophase?

A

The nuclear envelope dispersed, kinetochore microtubules pull chromosomes toward the middle.
Centrioles move away from eachother to the poles-opposite ends of the cell.

16
Q

What is the final phase of Mitosis?

A

Telophase

17
Q
  • This phase starts when chromosomes stop.
  • A new nuclea envelope forms around each chromatin mass, nucleoli reappear within the nuclei and the spindle breaks down and dissappears.
  • Mitosis is over and the cell for a period of time is binucleate and each new nucleus is identical to the original mother nucleus.
A

Telophase

18
Q

This is the division of cytoplasm. It begins during late anaphase and continues through and beyond telophase. A contractile ring of actin microfilaments forms the cleavage furrow and pinches the cell in two.

A

Cytokinesis
