Renewable resource
Natural resources that can be used indefinitely without causing a reduction in the supply

A mixture of gravel, sand, and crushed stone that naturally accumulates on or close to Earth’s surface. Used for the base of highway surfaces

Natural resource that can be mined at a profit
Gangue
Material left after ore is extracted. May release harmful chemicals into groundwater or surface water
Pollutant
Substance that can adversely affect the survival, health, or activities of life slash organisms
Air pollution
When pollutants in air reach a level that is harmful to human health, this results
Desalination
Process where salt is removed from ocean water, making freshwater
