- tension on everything
- can’t leave work, so you “hide” - avoid people
- Automatic Branch of CNS turns on at the slightest signal

Phobias - fear of an object or an activity
- when you avoid it at all costs
- e.g. agoraphobia

Panic Disorder - Anxiety to the extreme
- panic attacks 1 per week
- O.C.D. - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

P.T.S.D. - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- after experiencing a horrible event
- flashbacks
- same stress+fear come back later in life
- serving in war doubles you chance of getting this

Major Depressive Disorder - discouraged about future
- lack of energy
- dissatisfied about life
- loss of interest in friends and family
- must last for 2 weeks

Bipolar Disorder - go from depression to being wildly optimistic
- back and forth
- causes wreckless behavior or great creativity
- Dysthmic Disorder - pessimistic, people like them but they don’t do anything

Schizophrenia

- split from reality
- disease that shows up in a Brain Scan
- *cause - too much Dopamine or too many dopamine receptors
- symptoms:
- incoherent thinking - e.g.”How many days are left in the school year?” - rainy, snow, easter, hot days
- hallucinations - see, hear, or smell things that are not really there

delusions - false beliefs
- e.g. PA is sending you a special message
- bizarre behavior - wild and negative expressions

- Borderline - identity problems, unstable relationships, experiments with sex/drugs, bored, problems with people in authority, self destructive behavior, running away

- Histrionic - constant attention seekers, wants to be the “center of attention”, seeks praise

Narcisstic - exaggerates own importance, fantasises that they are important
- responds to any criticism with rage

- when it happens you forget the other personality
