Behavioural theories of leadership
Proposes that effective group performance depends upon proper match b/w leader’s style of interacting with his/her followers & degree to which situation allows leader to control & influence
Fiedler contingency model
Leadership theory that focuses on the readiness of followers
Situational Leadership
Leadership theory that says it’s the leader’s job to assist followers in attaining their goals & to provide necessary direction &/ support to ensure that their goals are compatible w/ overall objectives of group/ org.
Path- goal theory
Leadership theory stating that followers make attributions of heroic/ extraordinary leadership abilities when they observe certain behaviours
Charismatic leadership theory
A formal articulation of an organization’s vision/ mission
Vision statement
Leaders who are fiercely ambitious & driven, but ambition is directed toward their company rather than themselves
Level 5 leaders
Leaders who guide/ motivate followers in direction of established goals by clarifying role & task requirements
Transactional leaders
Leaders who inspire followers to transcend own self- interests & who are capable of having a profound & extraordinary effect on followers
Transformational leaders
A sr. employee who sponsors & supports a less experienced employee
