Cerebrum elaboration Flashcards
Lateral and central sulcus
Grooves in the cerebrum that separate lobes
insula
a sulcus within the lateral sulcus that separates the deep brain lobes
Frontal lobe
conscious thought and muscle control
temporal lobe
perception of auditory/ olfactory
Parietal lobe
perception of touch and proprioception
occipital lobe
perception of visual stimuli
Precentral gyrus
Ridge anterior of the central sulcus in the frontal lobe that makes up the primary motor cortex made of pyramidal cells
pyramidal cells
make up primary motor cortex on the pre central gyrus
Post central gyrus
posterior to the central sulcus in the parietal lobe. Contains the primary somatosensory cortex which receives almost all stimuli
Association area
in sensory cortexes they recognize and remember the order and type of modalities for everything
Motor control order
1.idea (limbic system)
2.program (primary motor cortex/cerebellum)
3.execution (motor neurons)
4.feedback (propioseption)
Pyramidal tract
From primary motor cortex ->spinal cord-> cross in medulla oblongata-> lower motor neurons
Rubrospinal tract
part of the extrapyramidal tract is the cross over point before medulla
extrapyramidal tract
all other pathways not from the primary motor cortex
Association fibers
interconnect areas within hemispheres (accurate fibres and longitudinal fibres)
