16
Q

aorta

A

largest artery of the body

17
Q

systemic circulation

A

circulation that supplies blood to all the body except the lungs

18
Q

pulmonary circulation

A

flow of blood from to the heart to the lungs and back to the heart

19
Q

P wave

A

atrial contraction

20
Q

QRS wave

A

ventricular systole

21
Q

T wave

A

ventricular diastole

22
Q

What are the formed elements of blood?

A

platelets, rbcs, wbcs

23
Q

What is the liquid portion of blood?

A

plasma

24
Q

What is the purpose of RBCS?

A

-deliver oxygen

25
Q

What is the purpose of white blood cells?

A

immunity

26
Q

What is the function of platelets?

A

clotting

27
Q

buffy coat

A

concentration of all wbcs and platelets in a sample of blood

28
Q

hemostasis

A
  • after a blood vessel is damaged, we have a vascular spasm, where blood vessels constrict to reduce blood loss
  • platelets plug formation occurs where platelets clump up and create a seal
  • in blood coagulation, a mesh forms around the plug and secure plug to the site, thus making the rbcs and platelets are trapped at the site creating a clot
29
Q

Blood type A

A

-a antigens, b antibodies

30
Q

Blood type B

A

-b antigens, a antibodies

31
Q

AB

A

ab antigens, no antibodies
