Indications for Calcium Chloride
A
- Hyperkalemia
- Calcium channel blocker OD (treats the hypotension/antidote)
- Ionized hypocalcemia (eg, after multiple blood transfusions)
- Magnesium sulfate toxicity (respiratory depression, hypotension)

Adult: Dosage for Calcium Chloride
A
Adult: 500 to 1000mg (of 10% solution) very SIVP. May be repeated q 5-10 minutes to total max 5g or 100mg/kg (whichever is less).

Contraindications for Calcium Chloride
A
- Hypercalcemia
- Digitalis toxicity
- Renal calculi
- Ventricular Fibrillation (except in the setting of suspected hyperkalemia)

Pediatric: Dosage for Calcium Chloride 10%
A
Pediatric: 20 mg/kg slow IV push to single max 1000mg, q 5-10 minutes. Total max 2g or 40mg/kg (whichever is less).
