C1 Flashcards
If my landing fuel on the CDU is showing below, what number should I consider briefing the fuel quantity low checklist?
4.0T
FUEL QTY LOW checklist occurs when either main tank below 2041kg.
Bring up the checklist
Brief the actions
If you know you’re going to Land with 3.0T of fuel, perhaps plan on a flaps 20 landing with an Opt prepared.
If get on short final, I wouldn’t change much. And just land. Maybe select crossfeeed on and all pumps on.
What are the actions in the FUEL QTY LOW checklist?
Cross feed switch on (either)
All fuel pumps on
Plan to land at the new suitable
Ground prox flap override switch
Flaps 20 landing
What is the difference between final reserve fuel and minimum reserve fuel?
Final reserve fuel:
30 min at 1500’ at planned landing weight at alternate.
(EFF lido is most accurate, generic #’s found in Oma)
Min reserve:
15 min fuel at 1500’ based on planned landing weight at ERA (FOLLOWING DEPRESS OR EO)
So if you divert, you can change your main divert fuel in the FMC to half of your EFF final reserve fuel.
Be aware this will be something like 1600 kg
You’ll have to deal with fuel quantity low
Try to add some conservative buffer.
Ops 8.3.8.4
Protecting final reserve fuel.
What are the three scenarios?
PIC responsibility to ensure aircraft lands with not less than:
Final Reserve
Or minimum Reserve (EO/depress)
Use Totaliser!
1) PIC should request delay information from ATC/IOC (could cause landing at destination with less than minimum diversion)
2) declare MINIMUM FUEL
- committed to land at specific airport
- Any change may result in landing with less than final Reserve
- No priority Given (not Emergency)
3) MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY FUEL
- Calculated fuel at landing is less than final Reserve
- Priority will be given
Alternate fuel required incorporates:
-MAP from minimum at destination
- Climb the cruise altitude
-fly to alternate +5% contingency
-descend approach Land
IF THE ALTERNATE IS CLOSE BY, the flight plan assumes a minimum distance of how many nautical miles?
90NM
Macau alternate gives you 3.5 tons of fuel. Do you think it takes 30 minutes to land to Macau? What comfortable number would you be ok reducing your alternate fuel to?
How would you justify reducing your alternate fuel?
Using a conservative
30 kg/NM or 6000T/hour:
VHHH-VMMC:
Limes to Papa is 10nm = 300kg
(Macau to Hong Kong is 30nm 1000kg)
Conservative use 2.0T!?
VTBS to VTBD is 20NM: 600kg
Unsure routing, etc, be conservative with 2.0T
If fuel at Dispatch is becoming tight which EFF fuel numbers can you adjust?
Taxi (be aware 200-300kg just to start engines)
- Trip:
Could play with diff in Nm and kg/nm in climb
(Example: heading to ocean, 07R is 1.5T less than 25L)
Step below, shortcuts, - contingency
(Reduce by max 10 min, down to min 5 min remaining) - extra fuel:
Remove at discretion of PIC
What are some fuel reducing measures to try to be legal for Dispatch?
Use CLB thrust instead of CLB1 or CLB2 (FCTM 4.1)
CFP Flight levels
Cost index 0 (approx 75kg/hour)
Alternate routing
(Short cuts, diff SID, using kg/nm)
Runways for departure (request closer runway, request runway going right direction)
Reducing Taxi fuel
Reducing contingency fuel
You should always be aware of your fuel status such as:
fuel required for Dispatch
Takeoff
Enroute
What others?
Dispatch: use EFF
Take off: trip plus MDF
Enroute: FMC should be showing at least MDF
(If not, calculate inflight reduction)
MDF?
Minimum fuel call (perhaps 45 min reminder in COMM)
Mayday fuel call
(30 min in FMC)
Fuel QTY LOW number.
How would you deal with ACP on take off?
Speakers on (both can hear)
Whoever can, make radio call
Focus on flying
Above MSA and after take off checklist:
Start troubleshooting
(Example: FO issue? Obs audio to FO, can now use observers like it’s his)
What are the typical alternate airports for Singapore?
WIDD (BATAM) - Indonesia
-ILS/RNP/VOR 04
- RNP/VOR 22
- 13000’ SINGLE RUNWAY
- 20 NM south (min 600kg, 2T conservative)
WMKK (KL) - Malaysia
- 6 ILS
- 13000’
- 160nm NW
WMKJ (JOHOR BAHRU) - Malaysia
- ILS/ VOR 16
- VISUAL 34 (RNP AR NOT APPROVED)
- 12,000’ (SINGLE RUNWAY)
- 22nm NW
WSAP - Singapore (PAYA LEBAR)
- 5nm west
- ILS/RNP/VOR 02
- ILS/RNP/VOR 20
- 12400’ SINGLE runway
MEL for engines or brakes, or anything in particular. Be meticulous about reading and clarifying…
Things easy to miss?
Example: 32-45-01B
ER
Vs
RR
Or MEL’s associated with current MEL
Common one is 22-11-07-01 (Autoland)
- beware of fuel additions due to MEL’s.
All flights shall be dispatched with at least fuel required for Flight. When does Dispatch begin for this policy?
0MA 8.1.5.1
Parking brake released
Which fuel figures can be manipulated to meet your fuel required before pushback?
Use EFF manual
Taxi
Trip
Continency
Tankering
Extra
(And changing alternate)
What is fuel required before takeoff?
Trip
