Q

How to find out your max take off GW or also called RTOW based on given conditions?

A

Enter all info same as Take off, just leave weight and CG blank.
(Thrust and flap Optimum)

Press calculate, will give RTOW

Q

Which CG does OPT use to calculate take off performance?

A

Does NOT use the CG put in by you.
It uses the data from the ALT CG field.

Therefore if CG actual 24.49
Round down to 24.4, use
ACG1(24.4 aft)

Enter into FMC 24% most likely.

FMC input is only for trim setting.

Opt is performance calc

6
Q

What are the buffers for OPT when using an AST?

A

More than +400kg needs new calc

QNH decrease by MORE THAN 1hpa

Temp increase to above AST (rare)

(Also be sure that FMC input CG is no more than final load sheet MACTOW DOESNT DIFFER BY MORE THAN
+/- 1% ,
And that OPT is still using proper Alt CG range…

Q

For landing calculation, can you use an auto brake with caution temp displayed?

A

No.

Also, just realise that max manual is not considered an auto brake setting.

Q

In general, what do you put as contaminant on TO or LDG calculation for contaminated runway?

A

Takeoff:
Usually depth given.
Input contaminant and depth.

Landing:
Usually braking action given.
Can try both, but if braking action reported…up for interpretation.

14
Q

Doing ENG Out landing calculation on oPT comes with a problem, what to do?

A

Doesn’t give brake temps and cooling time, or credit for 1 engine Max reverse.

So do a calculation with both engines in F25 with max reverse and no reverse, and go with something in betweeen.

New policy for hot brakes doesn’t want longer than 60 min cool time.

16
Q

How do you know if fuse plugs have melted?

A

Noise
EICAS
Tyre pressure indications

17
Q

How do you alert ground crew of Amber brakes?

A

Keep Beacon on

And

Use: CAUTION, Abnormally hot brakes, nose wheel chocks only, keep clear of Main Landing Gear”

18
Q

If do an RTO, a few data points you should try to remember for ENG?

A

Time of event
Highest and current brake temp
Speed of occurrence
Park brake status

19
Q

What is the Amber caution zone by for the BTMS brake temps on B777?

A

BTMS 5.0 to 6.3

20
Q

What is the B777 RED zone for hot brakes (fuse plugs melt)

A

6.3 and above

21
Q

How many minutes on brake cooling should give you concern?

A

Anything above 60 min.

70 min means approaching 5 BTMS
Which is CAUTION.

Above 6.3 BTMS, fuse plugs start to melt.

22
Q

Where can you find info on V speeds if OPT not working?

A

Performance Dispatch in FCOM

23
Q

What’s the approximate fuel flow for flaps up holding in TMA?

A

300 at MLW is approx 7T/ hour
(6 min per hold, approx 700kg)

Add approx 5% with flaps 1

24
Q

What is the APU burn on ground and in flight?

A

Answer found in MEL
24-31-01

Ground 240 kg/hr
Flight 90 kg/hour

25
Q

Approximate min field length at sea level at MLW?

A

1800-2000m
(5900-6500’)

Perf Disp 12.1

26
Q

Is climb limit weight an issue on 777?

A

No.

At sea level, 44 degrees starts to become an issue.

Perf Disp 12.3

27
Q

Where to find Quick Turn Around Weight Limits?

A

Perf Disp 12.5 (Landing)

Alternate Procedure important in case of RTO
- wait 10-15 min for max brake temp
- if no BRAKE Temp advisory, then just follow cooling time (Perf Inflight) 12.43
- IF BRAKE TEMP SHOWING
- Wait 65 min or wait until all below 3 units

28
Q

Performance dispatch info is usually controlled by who?

A

Dispatch office

29
Q

How much does a 90 degree line up eat up?

A

Perf Disp 14.1

Using manual charts, it decreases the TORA by 25 M (82 feet)

30
Q

How does the FMC protect VMCG and VMCA speeds?

A

By increasing the V1, VR, V2 as required.
(May not be able to do it at MAX thrust and light weights…unlikely scenario)

(If this occurs “V SPEEDS UNAVAILABLE” will show, and takeoff not permitted until fixed)

31
Q

What does a derated thrust do to your min control speeds ?
D-TO1
D-TO2

A

Decreases them.

AST doesn’t affect min control speeds, as min control speeds are calculated at actual temp.

For this reason, taking max thrust with EO when you had DTO2, beware that you need higher speed for VMCA

32
Q

What restrictions in VMCG and VMCA?

A

V1 must be greater than VMCG
(Safe to stop )

VR must be greater than VMCA
(Safe to fly)

33
Q

Optimum altitudes shown in tables equate to what buffet related Maneuver margins?

A

1.5g (48 degree bank)

60 degree is 2G

34
Q

What three things is MLW limited to?

A

The lowest of:

Field limit weight

Climb limit weight

Max certified landing weight

35
Q

Where can ER oxygen and temp corrections be found?
O2 time in case of depress.

A

Performance Dispatch
31.11

Depress in cruise with two pilots in cockpit
At 14,000 feet, you should have approx 4-5 hours oxygen.

Add 360-600L for 2 crew at 25,000’
(1600PSI covers all this)

36
Q

What is the maneuver speed for F20 and F15 respectively?

A

VREF30 + 20

(They are same speeds)

Perf Inflight 10.3

CLEAN VREF30+80
1 is + 60
5 is + 40
15/20 is + 20

37
Q

Where can flight with unreliable airspeed tables be found?

A

FCOM - Perf Inflight - 10.25

38
Q

What is the lowest RCC we can land in?

A

2 = medium to good

(Wet slippery, Snow over compact,
Greater than 3MM of: dry snow, wet snow )
