Desire
1 १ ༡ राग rāga འདོད་ཆགས་ ‘dod chags desire
Clinging to the places, bodies, and enjoyments of the three realms.
Like oil soaked cotton hard to get out; like drinking salt water, never satisfies, simply increase thirst तृष्णा
8th of 12 nidāna

Anger
2 २ ༢ प्रतिघ pratigha ཁོང་ཁྲོ་ khong khro anger
A completely hostile intention focusing on the harmer, a sentient being; the harm, suffering; or the harming conditions of poison, weapons and so on.
Likened to a fire that burns and consumes

Pride
3 ३ ༣ मान māna རྒ་རྒྱལ་ rga rgyal pride
A haughty attitude having the aspect of arrogance based upon the views of the transitory collections.
The water of good qualities cannot stay on the balloon of pride. Tibetan Saying (balloon is puffed up and hollow)
Seven Types of Pride
- Pride
- Excessive pride
- Pride beyond pride
- Pride of thinking “I”
- Conceited pride
- Pride of slight inferiority
- Wrong pride

Ignorance
4 ४ ༤ अविद्या avidyā མ་རིག་པ་ ma rig pa ignorance
Being obscured about the meaning of the four truths and of suchness.
Beginning of 12 nidāna निदान

5 ५ ༥ विछिकित्सा vichikitsā ཐེ་ཚོམ་ the tshom doubt
Indecision concerning the truths and cause and result.

Afflicted supreme knowledge.
Five Types of Afflicted View
- transitory collection (clinging to impermanence, many parts as self)
- holds to an extreme (permanence and nihilism)
- holds wrong types of ethics and modes of discipline as supreme
- holds a wrong view as supreme
- wrong views
