Brain And Memory Flashcards

1
Q

Brain biology

A

When an event happens in your life, like learning a new quote or meeting a new person, your brain decides whether or not the info needs to be saved. If your brain judges it to be important, it’s put on your memory “files” where it can be retrieved later. Different parts of your brain must communicate with each other to store memories

Q

Neurons?

A

Equivalent to wires that connect different parts inside your computer. Different parts of your brain are connected by neurons. Neurons are nerve cells that process and transmit information

100 billion neurons we have

Q

How neurons connect

A

Neurons interconnect using tiny contacts called synapses. When a signal actually reaches a synapse, it triggers the release of chemicals known as neurotransmitters(chemical messengers that send info between neurons)

Q

Memory tip

A

When you need to recall something, the brain has to activate the same pattern of nerve cells it used to store the name. The more frequently you need the info, the easier it is to retrieve it along healthy nerve cell connections

Q

Alzheimer’s

A

Brain disorder snd most common form of dementia (a term for loss of memory and intellectual abilities. It destroys brain cells and disrupts activities of neurotransmitters. The hippocampus shrinking is what causes Alzheimer’s

Q

Braun health helpful hints

A

Focus vs concentrate- they’re used interchangeably, but not the same thing. Focus is to be in tune with reality. They’re concerned with facts and not feelings fantasy or other peoples opinions. You’re either focused or not, no different levels

I.e being in focus at the gym would look like a trainee being fully aware that he is at the gym and this means he won’t wander. It won’t drift into the menial concerns or other people’s awareness of him. He’ll only be worried about what he’s doing
