Bones 101
Bones are made of collagen and calcium
Without bones we’d be a big pile of jelly that run, jump stand straight ect. They provide structural support to our bodies
We have 206 bones
What’s good for bones
Healthy weight cuz it puts less stress on bones and joints
Weight lifting supports proper bone density
Vitamin D and calcium
What’s bad for bones
Weight gain - it causes stress on bones and joints
Age- as we get older(especially women in menopause) we lose bone density and mass
Supplements - other than calcium and D
Strontium- must be taken at a different time than calcium cuz they’re absorbed the same way and compete. It stimulates cells that generate bone health while inhibiting cells that breaks down bone tissue
Boron - helps reduce urinary loss of calcium and magnesium
