How many bones are in the body?
206
Skeletal system is divided into two categories:
Axial and appendicular
What does the axial skeletal system do?
Provide central support for the body and protects internal organs
What does the appendicular skeleton system do?
It provides attachment points for muscles that allow movement
Grow out from the bone and are sites for muscle attachment. They help to form joints.
Projections
What are the two types of bone markings?
Projections and depressions
These indent the bone and allow blood vessels and nerves to pass
Depressions/openings
