Why did the Bolsheviks set up the MRC?
The Bolsheviks set up the MRC to bring all soviet-supporting soldiers together in Petrograd before Kerensky sends out Bolshevik influenced armies out of Petrograd. Most regiments promised loyalty to the MRC.
What did Kerensky try to do after the Bolsheviks set up the MRC?
Kerensky ordered a crackdown on the Bolsheviks, he closed Bolshevik newspapers and blocked river crossings. Trotsky called this a counter-revolution and used the MRC to control of bridges and roads.
