EPITHELIUM CHARACTERISTICS

A

-cells fit closely together & often for sheets(many junctions!!!)
-lower EPITHELIUM rest on a basement membrane (remember diffusion from base to apical cells)
-avascular (apical cells)
-regenerate easily if well-nourished
-base membrane can replace apical cells
