A sticky black material that irritates and narrows airways, some chemicals cause cancer

It is an additive drug that speeds up the nervous system
Why is nicotine a stimulant?
It makes your heart beat faster and narrows blood vessels
What is Carbon Monoxide and how doe it affect the body?
It is a poisonous gas that stops blood from carrying as much oxygen as it should
How do you get heart disease from smoking?
When a person’s arteries becomes blocked, this prevents blood flowing properly and can cause heart attacks and strokes
How do you get emphysema from smoking?
It is caused when chemicals in tabacco smoke affect the alveoli in the lungs so their wall becomes weakened and cannot inflate properly when you inhale, the might burst when coughing. This reduces the amount of oxygen that can pass into the blood making the person breathless
How do you get respiratory infections from smoking?
When the cells lining in the windpipe produces mucus which traps dirt and microorganisms. They also have cilia that sweeps the mucus into your stomach, keeping the airways clean but chemicals in tabacco smoke stops the cilia from moving and this allows the mucus to flow into your lungs
