Neuron
nerve cells that send messages to your brain and body
Dendrite
receives messages from other cells in the body

passes the electrical signal from the cell body to other neurons, muscles, or glands
Glial Cells
Cell that supports the physical and chemical support for neurons
Myelin sheath
Covers the axon of some neurons and helps speed neural impulses
Action Potential
Shift from negative to positive in the neuron membrane potential from flowing ions
Threshold
the critical level to which a membrane potential must be depolarized to initiate an action potential
Refractory Period
a state of recovery that occurs after a neuron has fired an action potential
Synapse
where neurons connects and communicate
