EYE:
Lacrimal gland
sit above the eye, deal with tears
Superior oblique muscle
muscle above the eye
depresses eye, turns it laterally
Superior rectus muscle
below sup. oblq. musc.
ATTACHES TO EYE
elevates eye, turns it medially
Lateral rectus muscle
attaches to the side of the eye
moves eye laterally
Inferior oblique muscle
wraps around the side/bottom of eye
elevates eye, turns it laterally
Inferior rectus muscle
attaches to the bottom of the eye
depresses eye, turns it medially
Ciliary body
above and below the lens
lens fits inbetween, smooth
Cornea
first, top layer of eye
Iris
the colored part surround the lens
Pupil
black part, hole, light passes through
Anterior segment
front space in between cornea and lens
Lens
thick circular clear part
Posterior segment
back space/part of eye
contains VITREOUS HUMOR
Sclera
white part of eye
layer 1
Choroid
next layer under the scerla
layer 2
Retina
layer 3
Macula lutea
near the fovea centralis
Fovea centralis
sits in the middle of the macula
back, focal point in eye
Optic Nerve
nerve behind the eye
Optic disc
covers the opening of the optic nerve
EAR:
Auricle (pinna)
top outer cartilage part of ear
External ear
outside part of ear
cont: the aurice and external acoustic meatus
External acoustic meatus
ear canal/ opening
Middle ear contains
- tympanic membrane
- malleus
- incus
- stapes MIS in order in ear
Internal ear contains
the rest
Auditory tube
connects the middle ear chamber to the nose
Semicircular ducts in semicircular canals
loops on top of the inner ear part
Utricle in vestibule
where the semicircular ducts all connect to
Saccule in vestibule
where the cochlea connects to
below the utricle vestibule
Stapes in oval window
bottom loop in between both vestibules
Vestibular nerve
connects to both center vestibules
Cochlear nerve
connects to the cochlea
Cochlea
snail like
Spiral organ
the matter in the cochlea/spiral shape
inbetween cochlear duct and scala tympani
Cochlear ducts in cochlea
opposite the spiral organs
Round window
sits next to the stapes in oval window
Cochlea INSIDE:
3 parts
- Scala vestibuli
- Cochlear duct
- Scala tympani
Tectorial membrane
overlies the stereocilia hairs
Basilar membrane
form the floors of the cochlea duct
Hairs
stereocilia
