What culture media is selective for Gram - bacteria?
Mac Conkey agar
Why would a differential culture media be used?
To distinguish 1 bacteria growing on the same plate from another bacteria
What are the limitations of serology?
False negs - due to recent exposure or immunosupression (Not enough Ab to see a positive result)
OR
False positives - due to vaccination, cross rxns, or past infection
What are the advantages of serology?
- Useful for chronic and carrier state
- Used for screening populations (Ex: large herds)
- Rapid tests available
