Q

Why will a fit person have a low resting heart rate

A

Their heart is strong so it pumps withbmore force. This means it can pump more blood per beat around the body whereas an unfit persons heart will need to pump more times to get the same amount of blood distributed

Q

What is process of breaking down lactic acid

A

When an exersize is peformed lactic acid gets converted to glucose in the liver. The glucose is then broken down into carbon dioxide and water in the liver. Then because you are in oxygen debt you breath deep and heavy to get more oxygen in your lungs

Q

How does the body respond to exercise to get what it needs for respiration? (3)

A

Breathing rate increases: respiratory rate increases to bring more oxygen into lungs and remove carbon dioxide quiicky
Heart rate increases: heart pumps faster to deliver oxygenated blood to the muscles and organs
Oxygen extraction increases: muscle cells increases their availability to extract oxygen from blood improving respiration.
