What is the pancreas and what does it do
A small organ that constantly controls and monitors the leval of glucose in your blood by usin gtwo different hormones: insulin and glucagon
What does insulin allow
Allows glucose to move from the blood into your cell
What happens when blood glucose concentration rises
Pancreas releases insulin
Glucose is removed from blood
Reverts back to normal blood glucose concentration
What happens when blood glucose concetration drops
Pancreas releases glucagon
Glucose added to blood
Reverts back to the normal blood glucose concentration
How is glycogen and glucagon different
Glucagon is a hormone
Glycogen is made up of lots of glucose molecules
How is type 1 diabeties treated
Patients inject insluine directly into the blood so it can affect effectively. Patients alos havveto be cautious of the carbohydrates they consume and the amount of exerscise they do
