To control the pituitary gland via releasing hormones and control daily rhythms

Above the brain stem

Helps you grow
What is the effect of the prolactin hormone?
Stimulates breast milk
What is the effect of the thyroid stimulating hormone? (TSH)
Controls secretion of thyroxide
What is the effect of the follicle stimulating hormone? (FSH)
Controls production of sperm and eggs
What is the effect of the luteinising hormone? (LH)
Controls secretion of sex hormones
What is the effect of the oxytocin hormone?
Stimulates uterus to contract at end of pregnancy
What is the effect of the ADH hormone?
Controls urine production and water balance
What is the effect of the Andrencorticotropic hormone?
Controls secretion of adrenal glands

Regulated growth and function of many body systems, role in regulation of blood calcium levels
