Axillary Anatomy Flashcards
R. and L. Subclavian Arteries
Arteries running from the superior thoracic cavity under the clavicle to the teres major
R. and L. Axillary Arteries
Surrounded by the brachial arteries distally and the subclavian arteries proximally.
R. and L. Brachial Arteries
Axillary arteries become these more distally in the arm
R. and L. Subclavian Veins
Veins located under the clavicle
R. and L. Axillary Veins
Veins located in the axillary region
R. and L. Deltoid Muscles
Most superficial muscles of the shoulder
R. and L. Pectoralis Minor Muscles
Muscles more deep to the pectoralis major and superficial to the ribs and intercostals.
R. and L. Anterior Scalene Muscles
Muscles that connect the transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae to the posterior first rib
R. and L. Middle Scalene Muscles
Connect the transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae to the middle portion of the first posterior rib
R. and L. Coracobrachialis Muscle
Connects the coracoid process of the scapula to the middle medial portion of the humerus. Assists in flexion.
R. and L. Lateral Cords
lateral to the axillary artery, splits into the musculocutaneous nerve(innervates coracobrachialis) and the median nerve.
R. and L. Medial Cords
Located medially to the axillary artery, branches into the ulnar nerve and the median nerve.
R. and L. radial nerves
Branch off of the posterior cord, runs posterior to the axillary artery down the lateral side of the arm.
R. and L. Ulnar Nerves
Branch off of the medial cord. Runs down the medial portion of the arm.
R. and L. Axillary Nerves
Branch off of the posterior cord that goes to the axillary region.
