A

Humeroradial joint
Humeroulnar joint

Q

Humeroulnar joint

A

Hinge joint, roll and slide with slight rotation.

Trochlea of the femur articulates with the trochlear articular surface of the ulna (inside the olecranon).

Q

Proximal radioulnar joint

A

Pivot joint, allows rotation when twisting arm.

Between head of radius and, radial articular surface of ulna.

Q

Radial collateral ligament

A

Connects to lateral epicondyle of humerus and goes on the annular ligament, which goes over the radial head.

Q

Lateral ulnar collateral ligament

A

Connects to lateral epicondyle of the humerus to supinator crest on ulna. Stabilizer for varus stress on elbow.

Q

Ulnar (medial) collateral ligament

A
  • Anterior portion: Medial epicondyle to coronoid process.
    Provides stability in extension.
  • Posterior portion: Medial epicondyle to olecranon. Provides
    stability in flexion.
  • Transverse portion: Coronoid process to olecranon.
Reinforcement, runs along the same bone.

Q

Annular ligament

A

Provides stability to the proximal radioulnar joint.
Surrounds the radial head, inserting at both ends in the radial
notch of the ulna.

Q

Bursa

A

Subtendinous bursa: prevents tricep tendon to hinge against each other.
Intratendinous bursa: prevents tendons from hinging against each other.
Olecranon bursa: prevents friction of the olecranon.
