What are the limitations of the APU?
Max Start altitude - 30,000’
Max Operating altitude - 33,000’
Max Altitude for APU engine start - 21,000’
Max Altitude for APU AC/pressurization - 15,000’
What APU information is seen on the EICAS?
RPM and EGT
What is the APU procedure when shutting down the aircraft?
Turn the APU OFF
After receiving the OFF indication wait an additional 80 seconds to receive an APU FUEL SOV CLOSED ECAS MESSAGE before turning off the batteries.
APU selector knob indications
OFF: Commands APU shutdown sequence, immediately turns off APU bleed
ON: Position for running
START: Starts APU, spring loaded back to ON
During normal Skywest operation, when should the APU be started?
Unless needed for power or a/c, start the APU 10 minutes prior to pushback. APU bleed is used to start engines.
APU Emergency Stop button
Pushed IN: Closes APU fuel SOV, and immediately shutdown APU with no cool down period.
White bar will illuminate.
Push OUT: Normal operation
In the event of an APU fire the top half will illuminate RED
