Q

Recirculation Fans button indications?

A

OFF: Pushed out, white strip illuminated.
AUTO: Turns ON the RECIRC fan when at least 1 PACK is on. OFF when both PACKs are OFF or Cargo smoke is detected.

17
Q

What is required to use the “PAX CABIN” knob?

A

PACK 2

18
Q

What is required to use the “CKPT” knob?

A

PACK 1

19
Q

PACK 1/2 button indications?

A

OFF: Pushed out, white bar illuminated.
AUTO: Pushed in, OPENS PACK flow valve when bleed air is available. CLOSES PACK valve during ENGINE START and associated side BLEED system LEAK is detected.

20
Q

Crossbleed button indications?

A

OFF: Pushed out, illuminated.
AUTO: OPENS XBLEED valve when bleed air source available on one side only.
CLOSES XBLEED when bleed leak is detected or fire extinguishing handle has been pulled.

21
Q

External air connections

A

HP- for engine starting

LP-for cabin heating and cooling

22
Q

Where are external air connections indicated in the cockpit?

A

HP- Shown on ECS synoptic page

LP- Not shown in the cockpit

23
Q

Engine Bleed button indications?

A

OFF: Pushed out, white bar illuminated
AUTO: Pushed in, OPENS engine bleed when respective engine bleed is available.
CLOSES engine bleed when FIRE is detected or a duct leak/overpressure is detected.

24
Q

APU Bleed button indications?

A

OFF: Pushed out, white bar illuminated
AUTO: Pushed in, OPENS APU bleed valve when APU bleed is available.
CLOSES APU bleed valve when APU or LEFT bleed LEAK is detected, ANTI-ICE system is ON, or Left engine bleed is available.

25
Q

What is a limitation of APU bleed air?

A

It cannot supply air for ANTI-ICE.

26
Q

How can the pressurization be operated?

A

Controlled automatically or manually

27
Q

Cabin alt knob selections?

A

DOWN: Held in this position , the cabin altitude will decreases (increases cabin pressure)
STOP: OFV movement will stop, Spring loaded to STOP
UP: OFV moved toward OPEN and CABIN altitude increases (decrease in cabin pressure)

28
Q

Pressurization Mode Knob selections

A

AUTO: AUTOMATICALLY control pressurization throughout entire flight, LANDING altitude automatically set by flight plan
LFE CTRL: AUTOMATICALLY control pressurization throughout entire flight, LANDING altitude automatically set MANUALLY
MAN: MANUALLY control OFV with the CBAIN ALT knob

29
Q

When would we use the LFE CTRL on the Pressurization mode knob?

A

When we are landing at a destination that is not in the database.

30
Q

What happens when the DUMP button is pressed?

A
  • Provides rapid depressurization by OPENING the OFV to command a 2000 FPM to 12,400’ cabin altitude (OFV closes)
  • Commands the PACKs OFF
  • Commands the recirculation fans OFF
31
Q

Does the DUMP button work in manual pressurization?

A

No, must be done by the pilot.

32
Q

When would we use the DUMP button?

A

During the Smoke Evacuation

33
Q

Mask Deploy Knob indications

A

OFF: Disables automatic deployment
AUTO: Automatically deploys pax O2 masks when cabin altitude reaches 14,000 to 14,750’
ON: Deploys pax O2 masks

34
Q

How is pax O2 provided? How long will it last?

A

Supplied by an O2 generator, will last about 12 minutes.

35
Q

What do the following pressurization EICAS information indicate, ALT, RATE, ΔP, and LFE?

A

ALT- Cabin altitude
RATE- Rate of change of cabin altitude
ΔP- Differential pressure
LFE- Landing field elevation

36
Q

What is the maximum ΔP?

A
  1. 8 psi FL370 and below

8. 4 psi above FL370
