Where is the transpyloric plane?
transects the pylorus, also known as Addison’s plane
midway between jugular notch and superior border of the pubic symphysis (at about L1)
Where is the subcostal plane?
line joining the most bone part of the rib cage, suaully about T10
What structures does the transpyloric plane intersect?

What does the subcostal plane intersect?
body of L3 vertebrae origin of the inferior mesenteric artery 3rd part of duodenum hepatic flexure unicate process of pancreas
What are strangulation hernia?
where blocked blood vessels cause necrosis
fibrous tissues around the hernia adhere to it, preventing it from being reduced a effectively
What is the rectouterine pouch?
a double fold in the peritoneum between the rectum and posterior uterus
What is the viscerouterine pouch?
between the bladder and the anterior uterus
Where do uterine tubes go?
into the peritneal cavity, so peritonitis can occur in infections of the vagina, fallopian tubes, and ovaries
When might pneumoperitoneum occur?
in watersports, as there are many changes in pressure
When do the testes descend?
after the 3rd month of pregnancy
