uses of Statins
- Treatment of hyperlipidemia
- Primary prevention of coronary events
(MI, TIA, Stroke) - Secondary slow the progression of coronary

- Primary prevention of coronary events
Statin adverse reactions CNS:
headache, dizziness, insomnia, memory and cognitive impairment
Statin adverse reactions GI:
flatulence, abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, hyperglycemia in nondiabetic patients
contraindications of Statins
- Hypersensitivity
2. Serious liver disorders
statin examples:

- lovastatin (Mevacor)
- pravastatin (Pravachol)
- simvastatin (Zorcor)
