Anatomy (Posterior Abdominal Wall) Flashcards
Ureter Formation
Minor Calyx combine into Major Calyx which combine into Renal Pelvis which turns into Ureter
Common Sites For Kidney Stones To Get Stuck (3)
- Narrowing of renal pelvis into ureter proper
- Where ureter crosses common iliac artery bifurcation before bending down into pelvis
- penetration of bladder wall
Blood Flow Pathway to Nephrons
renal a. -> segmental a. -> interlobar a. -> arcuate a. -> interlobular a. -> afferent arteriole
Innervation of Suprarenal (Adrenal) Glands (3)
- Preganglionic sympathetic fibers synapse in medulla
- Releases epinephrine & norepinephrine
- Exception to the pattern of sympathetic innervation
Parasympathetic Innervation Before vs After Transverse Colon
Before - Vagus
After - S2, S3, S4
Nerves of Lumbar Plexus (7)
- Iliohyposgastric
- Ilioinguinal
- Lateral femoral cutaneous
- Genitofemoral
- Femoral
- Obturator
- Lumbosacral trunk
Iliohyposgastric Nerve Location & Innervation
- (L1) cutaneous innervation of posterolateral gluteal region and suprapubic area. Some motor to abdominal wall.
Ilioinguinal Nerve Location & Innervation
- (L1) cutaneous innervation of proximal medial thigh and scrotum/mons pubis
- Some motor to abdominal wall
Lateral Femoral Cutaneous Nerve Location & Innervation
- (L2-L3) cutaneous innervation of lateral side of thigh
Genitofemoral Nerve Location & Innervation
- (L1-L2) cutaneous innervation of genitalia and thigh
- Genital branch joins spermatic cord to innervate cremaster muscle
Femoral Nerve Location & Innervation
- (L2-4) innervates anterior region of thigh
Obturator Nerve Location & Innervation
- (L2-4) innervates medial side of thigh
Lumbosacral Trunk Location & Innervation
- (L4-5) contributes fibers to sacral plexus
