Anatomy (Perineum) Flashcards
Perineum Roof
Levator ani muscle
Internal Pudendal Artery & Pudendal Nerve Pathway
- Travels out of the Greater Sciatic Foramen, into Gluteal Region, through the Lesser Sciatic Foramen, into Perineum
Urogenital vs Anal Triangle
Urogenital - Anterior
Anal - Posterior
- Separated by imaginary line between ischial tuberosities
- NOT on same plane
Superficial Perineal Pouch Contents (6)
- Crura of the penis (males) / Crura of the clitoris (females)
- Bulb of the penis (males) / Vestibular bulbs (females)
- Ischiocavernosus muscle
- Bulbospongiosus muscle
- Greater vestibular gland (female) muscles
- Superficial transverse perineal muscle
Muscles that Attach at Perineal Body
- Levator ani
- Deep perineal muscles
- Bulbospongiosus muscles
- External anal sphincter
Dartos vs Colles Fascia
Dartos - covers stuff that dangles
Colles - covers stuff close to perineum
- Same stuff, just different names
Rupture of Spongy Urethra
- Occurs when you have a straddle injury
- Blood fills dartos fascia around penis & scrotum
Anal vs Vaginal Cavity
Anal - No urogenital diaphragm
Vaginal - Present urogenital diaphragm
