Amoeboza Flashcards
What is amoeboza? Traits?
Supergroup of the eukaryotic, sister group to us (opisthokonts)
->Amoeboids movement - crawling with appendages made from pseudopodia
Where does this play a key role? (Amabzoa)
In decomposition of matter in the soil, since it loves phagocytosis
What amoeboza is very deadly?
Enamoeba histica -> bloody diarria
Amoebas
A supergroup
-> free-living, multi-cellular
ex//,
Pelomyxa -> Throught to be most primitive eukaryote, but not. Has a flagella
Amoeba proteus -> Lives in the dirt, has broad blunt pseudopodia
Slime Moldes
HUGE single-celled, with many nuclei
- > oozes around and incredibly efficient at finding food
- > creates fruiting bodies when env is bad
plasmid slime molds
forms a blob, since when it undergoes mitosis, cytokinesis never happens
- > mostly diploid
- > fruiting body called a sporangium
- > mostly diploid
Cellular slime mold
mostly found as individuals, but can aggregate
- > its spores from microcystins, which then form macrocytic (2n)
- > Reproduces asexually, and sexually
- > aggregates into a grex or a slug
- > Mostly haploid
