The southernmost IGP on the Portuguese mainland
Hot seaside climate, not suited for fine wines
Contains four DOP zones:

Traditional grape varieties of Algarve

Whites - Arinto and Siria
Acores three DOP zones

The islands apex is its volcano, the highest point in Portugal at 7,500 feet above sea level
Verdelho, Arinto, and Terrantez varietals, wines must achieve a minimum 16% abv after fortification, and aged a minimum three years in barrel

On the island of Terceira, produces fortified white wines from Verdelho, Arinto, and Terrantez
Graciosa DOP
Produces unfortified, dry white table wines
