AK motions (Ch11-13) Flashcards
Elbow joint AK motion
concave on convex (same)
Flexion of elbow joint, the glide happens
anteriorly
Extension of elbow joint, the glide happens
posteriorly
concave trochlear notch on ulnar moves on convex trochlea on humerus
elbow joint
concave radial head of radius moves on convex capitulum on humerus
elbow joint
Radiocarpal joint AK motion
convex on concave (opposite)
During flexion of radiocarpal joint, the carpals glide
posteriorly
During extension of radiocarpal joint, the carpals glide
anteriorly
During radial deviation of radiocarpal joint, the carpals glide occurs
medially
During ulnar deviation of radiocarpal joint, the carpals glide occurs
laterally
convex proximal row carpals move in opposite direction of hand movements
radiocarpal joint
neutral position and slight ulnar deviation
open packed position of radiocarpal joint
MCP and IP: thumb AK motion
concave on convex (same)
concave base on proximal end of distal segment articulates with convex head on distal end of proximal segment
MCP and IP: thumb
flex and ext: concave base of 1st metacarpal glides in same direction as distal end of metcarpal
CMC: thumb
