3 305-02 Uniform classifications (1/3/22)
In regards to “summer Class B” patrol uniform and “Summer class C” patrol uniform, the only differences are Class B summer you must wear ___________ BUT the ___________ is OPTIONAL AND the ______ is also optional
For "summer class C" you simply wear the short sleeves with NO TIE. (FOR BOTH SUMMER CLASS B AND C, BLACK BOOTS ARE OPTIONAL)
For “summer class D” (admin) your only option is short sleeve shirt no tie, with black shoes & Duty Trouser.

3 305-02 UNIFORM CLASSIFICATIONS

In regards to WINTER patrol uniform “class B Winter” UMOS must have 8 point cap, long sleeve shirt and (TIE is operational NEW) and BLACK GLOVES.
The OPTIONAL uniform items are ___________ (4 items). V-neck may be outer most garment worn over shirt and tie, tucked in to pants. However the turtle neck may be worn under the duty jacket just not when at _______________. Turtle neck may also be worn under long sleeve shirt, with top button open when at COURT OR DETAILS.
(THERE IS NO WINTER CLASS “C”)
In regards to WINTER uniform “Class D” (admin) UMOS should know NO CAP is required and you must wear _______and ______.
The __________ is still optional but the ________ is NOT OPTIONAL. Duty belt optional for winter class “D” (No boots and No Patrol tactical pants for admin!)

In regards to Dress uniform “class A” which is for __________________, UMOS should know summer and winter class A’s are the same except for ‘summer blouse’ and ‘winter coat’. - The duty jacket may be waist length OR hip length, navy blue, nylon, with zip-out Thinsulate lining, and zip side vents with NYPD reflective lettering on the rear.
Nameplate- worn outermost garment,Centered below shield. Nameplate for POs are ____metal;ranking Officers and detectives will wear____metal.
Duty trousers- Navy blue (polyester and wool) with_____inch braid attached. For supv braid is _____inch.
GLOVES- black=duty jacket or winter coat; Leather=when safety may be Jeopardized or while in Dept Vehicle; White Cotton=Not to be worn with ___or___. Traffic Duty=Plain white wool (NOT worn while performing RMP duty but MUST be available for use)
Inclement Weather Gear- reversible raincoat with “NYPD” stenciled letters over the right breast and back of jacket with reversible navy blue or lime green cap cover ,hood and leggings. Shied and nameplate will be fastened on the raincoat over left breast and cap device on the cap over,(wearing of leggings,cap cover,hood,solid black overshoes or solid black rubber boots is optional).
Regulation black rubber reflective or reversible black/orange raincoat with reversible black or orange cap over remain authorized.

Detective uniform is the same as required for PO, except- cap; Gilt (Gold) cap device without Shield number.
SGT uniform is same as POs, except Gilt (Gold) cap device without shield number and Gilt (Gold) Chinstrap. Trousers _____inch braid attached.
Insignia of rank; Three point chevrons, worn on sleeves of all outer garments except _____and ______ jacket. Gilt (Gold) chevrons worn on the collar of the Nylon windbreaker jacket.

Raingear and Nylon windbreaker
- 3* 305-04 Uniform-optional items (1/3/22)
- the Nylon windbreaker jacket is for only authorized SPECIALIZED Unit at Police Incidents. Never worn Off duty or in conjunction with regulation uniform as an outermost garment and is not to be adorned with unauthorized patches. C.O wish to obtain permission for their members to be allowed to wear approved nylon windbreaker jacket will prepare a Typed Letterhead (49) addressed to ________, stating reasons for requiring jackets.
- Patrol tactical pants may be worn on patrol, at court, and details, and by members permanently or temporarily assigned to HEADQUARTERS SECURITY. HOWEVER they are NOT authorized when _________ (3 times)
- Optional items for ON DUTY UMOS performing duty in civilian clothes are __________(barriers detail)
- Golf type shirt- Navy blue pullover;shield patches left side of Chest;name/shield # patched right side of Chest; Letters NYPD printed across the back and Dept patches on both sleeve. -Turtle neck shall never be worn as outer most garment. Turtle neck may be worn underneath shirt with or without duty jacket. 2 305-05 Lost or damaged uniform(1/3/22)
When an article of uniform or equipment is damaged or lost in the performance
of police duty OR personal clothing/prescription eyeglasses/contact lenses are damaged/lost during extraordinary police action.
UMOS should prepare report on typed letterhead (49) to _________ within ______ from date of incident. (If MOS incapacitated, Supv does it)
UMOS should state how and when loss or damage occurred, date of purchase and cost (receipt if available). Attach statement of witness, if any.
UMOS should ascertain if article can be repaired and obtain a copy of ESTIMATED cost to repair OR copy determining item is damaged beyond repair.
UMOS should then present damaged article, UN-REPAIRED TO _______WITH 49 addressed to DCMB.
Maximum reimbursement for personal clothing (or prescription eye glasses/contacts), which ARE ONLY OBTAINABLE WHEN TAKING EXTRAORDINARY POLICE ACTION, are: (Prescription eyeglasses \_\_\_\_ Jacket/coat/dress/suit jacket\_\_\_\_ Footwear \_\_\_ Skirt \_\_\_\_ Jeans/shorts \_\_\_\_ Dress shirt/blouse \_\_\_\_\_ Sweatshirt/Shirt \_\_\_\_\_

The Department does not reimburse members of the service for loss of, or damage to,personal articles, e.g., jewelry, rings, bracelets, etc., WITH THE EXCEPTION of watches.
While UMOS performing patrol duty must be equipped with a serviceable watch, such members should be aware that a maximum of _____ has been
established as a reasonable amount for reimbursement, if the watch is lost or damaged during “police duty!! (NOT extraordinary police action just simply “police duty!”)

4 305-07 Firearms-general regulations(1/4/22)
Questions regarding the eligibility of firearms/night sights should be directed to the _________. In addition,standards regarding firearms are also subject to change by the FTS.

ALL UMOS, unless on official business or personally participating in a sporting event requiring firearm, ARE PROHIBITED from carrying on their person, or transporting in luggage, any firearm into a foreign country!!!

4 305-07 Firearms- general regulations(1/4/22)
All holsters (ankle, shoulder, belt) must be specifically designed for the weapon being carried (“one size fits all”, “clip on”, and “belly band holsters” are PROHIBITED)
(But remember ankle, shoulder, belt holsters are authorized!)
DO NOT carry Firearms in Briefcases,handbags,Fanny Packs, Hip packs,Tote bags, Knapsacks, Paper bags or similar device.

305-04 Optional Uniform Item (1/4/22)
Winter Hat, Winter Knit Hat and Cold Weather Hood (balaclava) may only be worn with _______.
Umos may wear earmuffs anytime- it doesn’t specify when they may be worn.
Transit Officer Safety Vest- Fluorescent Orange with reflective Silver trim with the word “POLICE” on the front & back . UMOS performing duties where in deemed to be Hazardous or that may require them to enter ____or____ areas within NYC Transit System.

- Uniform cops gun belt requirements include traffic whistle and belt whistle holder when performing traffic related duty.

- reflective traffic safety vest (when performing traffic related duty or at the discretion of a supv
- Transit Officer Safety vest: Fluorescent Orange with reflective silver trim with the word “POLICE” on the Front & Back, when performing duties in areas that are deemed hazardous or that may require entering roadbeds or track areas within NYC Transit System.
- Oleoresin Capsicum pepper spray device and holder attached to equipment belt
- Dept issued belt-worn trauma kit, if trained
- An appropriate amount of Right to know Business Cards and Right to know Business Cards-General
- Dept issued Opioid antagonist (Narcan, Naloxone) if trained and issued by the Dept

305-11 Authorization for Special Weapons (1/4/22)
To authorize qualification and carrying of weapons other than regulation service firearms. When CO of a unit within Detective Bureau or IAB determines it necessary for a UMOS to carry weapons OTHER THAN a Dept authorized firearm.
This procedure is all CO’s job
305-10 Repair/Replacement of authorized Firearms (1/4/22)
To borrow a service pistol,or repair authorized firearms.
When a service Pistol is Stolen,Lost,Requires Repair, is held as Evidence by a court, District Attorney or safeguard by the Property Clerk: to obtain replacement service pistol, UMOS notify ______of facts.
CO has to prepare report to CO FTS
UMOS then Deliver report to DEPT armored,_______ on weekdays 0700-1500 hrs, Outdoor Range, Rodman’s Neck.
UMOS report to ______ make,model and serial # of pistol obtained from FTS.
CO have entry of above data made on number’s FORCE RECORD.
UMOS deliver borrowed pistol to FTS when service pistol is returned or repaired AND Obtain receipt for borrowed pistol from FTS and deliver to_____.
Prior permission of the CO,FTS is required for the modification of service/off duty pistol OR an authorized firearm.
