1
Q
What are myelin sheaths?
A
A fatty layer that coats a neuron
2
Q
What produces myelin?
A
Schwann cells
3
Q
How is an action potential propagated along a myelinated neuron?
A
The myelin sheat acts as an electrical insulator.
Inbetween the myelin are nodes of raniver which allow strong electrical impulses to occur due to lots of ion channels in them.
The depolarisation of the nodes of raniver allow the impulse to saltatory conduct along the axon!!!
