Excess active hormone in duct/duodenum –> auto digestion –> immune response –> inflammation of pancreas

A
N+V Upper epigastric pain Fever Shock Tenderness Jaundice Ileus

Investigations and Findings?
A
Biochem - increased serum amylase, acid/base imbalance U+Es Glucose- hyperglycaemia USS ABG ERCP - gallstones X-ray - loss of psoas shadow

Management?
A
Treat shock
Prompt treatment of cause -removal of stone, alcohol abstinence

Shock
Chronic pancreatitis
Pancreatic cancer
Malabsorption
