Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) Flashcards
NSTEMI vs. STEMI
STEMI (ST-elevation MI) - ECG shows MI and positive for damage to myocardium & enzyme biomarkers
STEMI give TPA
what to ask pt before giving TPA
see if they are on any other blood thinner medications
what to hold prior to stress test
no meds that day, no caffeine
NPO 3hrs prior
causes of MI
SODDA
S - stress, stimulants, smoking
O - obesity (BMI >25)
D - diabetes & HTN
D - diet high in cholesterol
A - African men & Age >50
what are S/S of MI
pain radiating to jaw, neck, arm, wrist, other places
diaphoresis
tachycardia
changes in LOC
usage of nitroglycerides
HF, HTN, anal fissures, period pain, angina from ischemia or cocaine
treatment of MI
MONA
M: morphine sulfate
O: oxygen
N: nitroglycerin
A: aspirin
what cardiac enzymes to look at
CK- MB
troponin
myoglobin
diagnostics for MI
12 lead ECG
cardiac enzymes
CXR
PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) to do angioplasty or stent placement
