allergy: azith, or clarith or eryth (preg or within 28 days of giving birth)
Meningococcal meningitis: prevention of secondary cases - 3 options
Ciprofloxacin or rifampicin or i/m ceftriaxone [unlicensed indication].
Haemophilus influenzae type b infection: prevention of secondary disease 1st line
rifampicin
diptheria - prevention of secondary cases
Azithromycin [unlicensed use], or clarithromycin [unlicensed use], or erythromycin (in pregnancy);
Alternative if more easily administered: benzathine benzylpenicillin [unlicensed use].
pertussis abx prophylaxis
Clarithromycin (or azithromycin or erythromycin).
Pneumococcal infection in asplenia or in patients with sickle-cell disease, antibacterial prophylaxis
LIFELONG

Antibacterial prophylaxis may be discontinued in children over 5 years of age with sickle-cell disease who have received pneumococcal immunisation and who do not have a history of severe pneumococcal infection.
Preterm prelabour rupture of membranes (P‑PROM): prevention of intra-uterine infection
eryth (think - pregnancy duh)
Alternative if oral erythromycin is contra-indicated or unsuitable: consider an oral penicillin for up to 10 days or until established labour, whichever is sooner.
