What is the epithelium?
a type of body tissue that forms the covering on all internal and external surfaces of your body, lines body cavities and hollow organs and is the major tissue in glands.
the skin is made up of epithelial tissue
How does the regeneration of the skin happen?
It depends on how deep the wound is, the process is different.
How does the regeneration of the skin happen, if only the upper layers are destroyed?
the skin is NOT destroyed to the germinal layer.
We see vesciles developing between the layers and the cells over them will be destroyed. At the place of the vesicle there will be a shallow tissue defect, called erosion.
There is a quick regeneration and it will beecome normal
How does the regeneration of the skin happen, if str- germinativum is destroyed as well?
We will see ulceration.
And the healing goes through several steps
1. There is a deep gap
2. Granultaion tissue fills up the gap
3. There is a slow porliferation of the epithelial cells, and we see organisation
4. The epithelial cells migrate and cover the gap, and we get a early fibrinous scar
5. The epithelisation is completed, there is scar contraction
How is the regeneration of glandular epithelium?
Glandular epithelium = lining of inner organs
The regeneration depends on the degree of tissue damage
How is the regeneration of glandular epithelium, if the basement membrane is intact?
Essential for a complete regeneration!
Only the epithelial cells are destroyued so there is normal arrangement of newly formed cells
Not a very excessive injury
How is the regeneration of glandular epithelium, if the basement membrane is destroyed?
There is no regeneration into regular structure
If the epithelial tissue of the liver is damaged, how is the regeneration?
1. In case of only liver cell necrosis = Regeneration
2. In case of liver cell necrosis AND structure = Hypotopia, heteromorphosis, cirrhosis
If the epithelial tissue of the kidney is damaged, how is the regeneration?
1. In case of tubular epitheilal cell degeneration = Regeneration
2. In case of loss of basement membrane and connective tissue strucutre = Tissue formation
